Limiting beliefs are pre-programmed in your subconscious mind and operate outside of your awareness. Unfortunately, they operate on automatic too, and will require reprogramming to change your thought patterns. The principle of auto-suggestion or affirmation helps to reprogram your subconscious mind so positive software can replace the negative ones to begin to run on auto-pilot. Affirmations are positive statements you repeat to yourself every day until your brain assimilates it as a part of your subconscious thoughts. It is not very easy if you have acquired a lot of baggage that needs to be worked through, but it is very simple. The most challenging experience I have had with auto suggestion is when a condition currently exists that I am working to change my mindset for. For example, repeating affirmations that I am abundant and have a lot of money in the bank when in reality my mortgage has not been paid, is extremely difficult and creates even more anxiety even as I yearn for it to show up.
Also, equally branded in our subconscious are fears to step out to start a new venture or a business that we’ve dreamed of doing. We get fearful about starting and allow the fear to paralyze us. Fear and anxiety push away the very thing we are desiring to have and leaves us in a state of confusion unable to think clearly about steps take to achieve what we want.
There is a passage of scripture that comes to mind which fully supports our need to believe in faith about what we have asked for, and “we will have it.” But what does that really mean when there are so many people still lacking? Is there a missing element and if so, what could it be? Belief and faith requires that there be evidence of it. Continuous anxiety and worry is not evidence of faith. Neither is praying and sitting and waiting. If we do have faith and believe, we will act. “Faith without works is dead.”
Believing that I am receiving what I am asking for, and thanking God for it before it shows up means that I will act in faith upon the results I am expecting before they even show up! Wow! Could this be what is holding us back from getting to our goals? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Read Mark 11: 24-25
