There was a time, a few years ago, when I was completely handling, all my tasks quite ‘efficiently’. What I didn’t realize was that my body was stressed about what needed to get done due to my view of, and my relationship with time.
Though I was keeping up with all that I had to do, I mostly felt like I was on a hamster wheel, continuously going. It wasn’t a great feeling. I really thought that this was a normal way of being in order to be successful in life, especially as it had brought me great monetary benefits, as well as many promotions throughout my career.
The real fact was that I couldn’t find the time to enjoy the fruits of my labor, I was continuously thinking about what’s next and had even ended up being hospitalized on a few occasions from stress-related symptoms. There was always an unsettled feeling inside.
Later, I took the same approach in business. It had worked ‘well’ for me in my career, or at least that’s what I had concluded. But what I failed to acknowledge was that my lack of a sense of freedom, complete peace and enjoyment was associated with the constant state of urgency that I was suspended in.
It was becoming clear to me very quickly that I did not want to repeat that cycle, especially as my health was at risk. This way wasn’t the way to peace, power and profits in my life
I wanted to feel free, happy and fulfilled and I wasn’t feeling this way being under the constant beat of the drum of my to-do-lists.
I had to learn to apply new approaches to my view of, and my relationship with time. And, of course, I had to also learn a few strategies to help me stay on top of what was important without feeling like I was not attending to the important things in life.
The tools that I applied, along with my approach and relationship to time helped significantly.
The first thing I needed to learn was that time is abundant and that I wasn’t going to conquer anything driving myself the way I was. I simply had to step back and take a look at the tasks that I had before me and figure out which were priorities and which were not.
Staying up till late at night, compromising my sleep, to get them completed wasn’t going to be my way of operating for the rest of my life That I was sure of!
My renewed relationship with time caused me to immediately feel relief from the stress I felt when I thought about what needed to get done. In my training video below, I shared how you can change your time-relationship view, along with some additional insights that will defintely help reduce your stress.
